Firstly, I want to dispel the myth that all Japanese kids are good students and that they study all the time. That is absolutely not true. If this experience has taught me anything, it is that kids are kids. They're the same all over the world. So, as any teacher can tell you, this job has its ups and downs, but my number one reason for getting up and going to work in the morning is these kids. I can't describe to you how funny, kind, smart and curious junior high school kids are. I love teaching them! They never fail to crack me up... or amaze me.
Anyway, enjoy this montage of my kids. Most of the pictures are from graduation day or the last day of school. Most of the kids featured are 15 years old. After graduation they will all go to separate high schools. The kids that can pass the tough exams will go to academic high schools and then on to college. The kids that are less academically inclined will go to a technical high school or an agricultural high school primarily to learn a trade. But for now, they are all together and all... happy?
